An animal communicator says she’s discovered the top complaint dogs have about their homes. It’s such a simple fix that pet owners might be surprised they never thought of it themselves.
And to some people, the request will make a lot of sense. Others think it doesn’t matter at all.
Psychic Medium Makes Interesting Claim About Your Pet
In a viral video with more than 166,000 views, Britta Grubin (@mediumbritta), who identifies as a psychic medium and animal communicator, shared what she says is the number one issue dogs repeatedly tell her about during readings.
The complaint comes up weekly and involves something most pet owners probably never consider, Grubin says.
“The number one thing that the dogs tell me—you’re not going to believe this. It’s so simple. It’s such an easy change,” Grubin says. “The placement of their feeding bowl.”
Nearly every dog she’s communicated with has expressed dissatisfaction with eating while facing a wall or cabinet. She says dogs consistently tell her they want their food bowls moved to a different location.
“Every dog tells me they don’t like it. They want it changed,” she says.
Grubin’s solution is straightforward: move the bowl away from the wall. She recommends placing it in front of a sliding glass door or in a spot where dogs can see into other rooms while eating.
“Float the bowl, put it in front of the glass door, the front door—probably not the front door—but put it in front of the sliding glass door,” she says in the video. “That is really, really what they want. They don’t want to look at a wall.”
To emphasize her point, Grubin tries to put owners in their dog’s shoes.
“Could you imagine us looking at a wall every day when we eat eating up?” she says in the video. “No. We want to look at people. We want to look out in our living room or our kitchen or the TV or whatever.”
Grubin claims the change will have a noticeable impact on dogs’ behavior and happiness.
“Change it. Your mind will be blown. The difference your pup will be after they’ve had their bowl switched in the placement of the kitchen,” she says in the video.
The video doesn’t provide details about Grubin’s background, training, or methodology for communicating with animals. Animal communication as a profession is not scientifically recognized.
What Do Experts Say?
While Grubin’s claim about dogs wanting to face away from walls during meals is unusual, veterinary professionals do have specific recommendations about dog bowl placement, but they focus on completely different factors.
Today’s Veterinary Nurse states bowl placement decisions should be based on a dog’s physical health needs rather than their viewing preferences.
Veterinarians recommend elevated bowls for dogs with neck or shoulder pain, arthritis, or certain medical conditions, as the raised platform eliminates strain on the neck. The height should generally be slightly below the level of a dog’s withers (the highest point of the shoulder blades) when standing.
Whole Dog Journal emphasizes that bowl placement is more about creating a stable, quiet location where dogs feel safe. The publication notes that controlling when and where a dog eats can be valuable for training and establishing routine but doesn’t mention dogs having preferences about what they look at while eating.
Neither veterinary source addresses whether dogs prefer to face windows, doors, or open spaces versus walls during meals.

Commenters React
“Gizmo told an animal communicator that he wanted to eat at the table. I found a pet friendly restaurant and took him out to dinner. Look at his face! He’s so happy!” a top comment read, accompanied by a picture of the pup and its owner.
“But they finish eating within 20 seconds,” a person points out.
“THIS is why my dog would pick up some food, walk over, and start eating in front of us?” another asked.
“What if I just hung a picture at their eye level,” a commenter added.
