As the release of James Cameron’s new film Avatar: Fire and Ash nears — releasing in movie theaters on December 19 — there are growing reports about a high-profile trailer that will reportedly be attached to it: 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Avengers movie since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly be attached to the release of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash in December

According to Film Threat, the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer — which will reportedly be attached to James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, releasing in theaters a year before Doomsday’s current release date — will, unsurprisingly, feature a heavy dose of Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom.

The report adds that Doctor Doom needs his armor because his body is “completely broken down,” and will reportedly be portrayed as “a classic ‘Universal-style’ monster, drawing comparisons to Erik from The Phantom of the Opera.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to feature a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.

At this time, Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, which is also the slotted release date for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three.
