‘Broke People Need To Stay Home’: Texas Woman Goes On Bachelorette Trip To Cabo. Then She Kicks A Woman Out Of Her Bridal Party, Amazon Account, And Life Over $15

A Texas bride’s bachelorette party turned into a friendship-ending disaster when a dispute over bottle service spiraled out of control.

What started as an issue over an $80 tab became a three-week silent treatment, a Reddit post with 6,000 comments, and the permanent end of a friendship—all over $15.

Who do you think was in the wrong here?

$800 Bottle Service Tab Sparks Drama

In a viral video with more than 4.9 million views, a bride (@thechappellshoww) shared the story of how her bachelorette party imploded.

@thechappellshoww invited her sisters and a few friends to celebrate with her in Cabo in September.

On the first night, the group went to a nightclub that required bottle service to get a booth. The bride wanted to buy a bottle, and her sister ordered another. When the $800 tab came the next day, the bride’s sister texted the group asking everyone to Venmo $80 per person.

Two friends from Texas—referred to as “A” and “K” in the video—were immediately bothered by the charge. They claimed they didn’t drink much, with one saying she only had four drinks from the bottle that night.

To avoid drama, the bride offered to pay for their portions since she wanted to buy the bottle anyway. But her friends didn’t want that solution.

“They were, like, coming up with this problem but didn’t wanna take a solution,” she says in the video.

Instead of accepting the offer, friend “A” emailed the nightclub requesting an itemized receipt. The bride says the two friends “were just, like, obsessing over that all week.”

On the second night, as the group was getting ready for dinner and another club outing, the bride overheard the two friends whispering. One said, “We’ll just see how you feel after dinner.”

“So I already knew where this was going,” @thechappellshoww said, suspecting drama.

Friend “A” claimed she had a migraine, and they’d see how she felt after dinner. But at dinner, the bride noticed “A” was drinking cocktails.

“If you have a migraine, I just thought that, like, it was really serious, but whatever,” she says in the video.

After dinner, both friends went back to the Airbnb while the rest of the group went out. The bride says the second night “was the best night ever. Probably because there’s no negative energy.”

Bride Gets Called For Intervention

The next morning, the bride received a text asking her to come to the duo’s room for a talk.

“I’m literally like getting sent out to the principal’s office on my bachelorette,” she says. “I have no idea what to expect.”

The two friends told the bride-to-be that she was “the problem” and that she was making them feel cheap by offering to pay. They said they felt uncomfortable around her sisters and friends and revealed they’d looked up flights to go home.

“I literally, like, chimed in, and I was like, ‘I think y’all should leave. Like, you’re making me feel uncomfortable now. This is my bachelorette, and you’re making it about you,'” she says.

Friend “A” said she was “50/50” on leaving because she’d already paid for the trip. She suggested staying at the Airbnb to use the amenities while everyone else continued with the itinerary.

“In my head, I’m like, no. That’s not how this works,” the bride says in the TikTok. “Like, you’re gonna be a fly on the wall at my bachelorette. Like, it’s so goofy.”

The friends asked to go to breakfast to discuss further, then came back “happy as can be,” saying they decided to forget about it.

The $15 That Ended A Friendship

At the end of the trip, after running all the numbers from the itemized receipt, friend “A” said she and “K” decided they did want to pitch in for one of the bottles after all. The itemized amount? $65 per person.

“In my head, I’m like, girl. Like, you started all this drama. You guys sat me down; you berated me. You threatened to leave my bachelorette party all over $15,” she says in the video.

After they got off the flight, “A” ran to the bathroom, and the bride didn’t hear from her for three weeks. The only contact was a text asking if the bride had changed her Amazon password because “A” was on her account.

The bride sent a message ending the friendship, saying her former friend wasn’t “a girl’s girl” and couldn’t celebrate her wins, then blocked her.

Former Friend Makes Reddit Post, 6,000 Comments Call Her Out

The drama didn’t end there. The bride says friends and family started messaging her a link to Reddit. Turns out, her former friend made a post about the situation, portraying the bride and her sister as the villains.

“There was 6,000 comments. And because her whole thing was, ‘Am I the a—— here?’ And there was 6,000 comments of everyone being like, ‘Yes. You are the a——,'” she says.

The comments apparently told the former friend she ruined her friendship over $15. The Reddit post has since been deleted, but the bride-to-be says she has screenshots.

The bride ended her video with a word of advice:

“This is your sign that if you have any reservations about any friends, do not include them in these special moments that you can’t get back again.”

Bachelorette Parties Are Getting Ridiculously Expensive

The drama over an $80 bottle service charge might seem petty, but it reflects a bigger problem with modern bachelorette parties: They’ve become incredibly expensive.

According to With Joy, the average bachelorette party guest now spends about $1,300 per person. That’s $600 more than in 2019, representing an 86% increase in just six years.

The costs have exploded for several reasons. What used to be a single night out has turned into multi-day destination celebrations. In 2019, 40% of bachelorette parties took place in the bride’s hometown. Now that number is below 25%, with groups heading to expensive destinations like Nashville, Miami, and Scottsdale instead.

The numbers get even more eye-opening when you look at the extremes. Recent data shows 37% of guests spend more than $1,000 on these celebrations. And one in ten ends up spending over $3,000. Perhaps most concerning: 52% of bachelorette party guests go into credit card debt from these events.

Travel method makes a huge difference. Guests who fly to destinations typically spend around $2,000 per person, while those who drive spend roughly $900. Each extra day of celebration adds $250-$350 per person to the total bill, covering another night’s accommodation plus meals, activities, and transportation.
