Ben Affleck, who has been a celebrity for 30 years and already had the experience of dating Jennifer Lopez once before, apparently wasn’t prepared for the drama that would come with marrying her.
According to sources who spoke to the New York Post, despite the fact Jennifer Lopez was Ben Affleck’s “dream woman,” the relationship and subsequent marriage was “drama all the time.”
“Jennifer was Ben’s dream woman. It was drama all the time,” the source told The Post’s Page Six. “He’s feeling down about it and is upset and depressed it didn’t work out, even though he knows ending it is the right thing to do.”
This source also echoed comments made by past insiders and Affleck himself, as he’s previously expressed that the level of Lopez’s fame can be overwhelming.
“Jennifer has a big entourage that follows her around daily — glam squad, videographers, photographers, assistants, trainers,” the source said. “She’s tried to make Ben understand that being Jennifer Lopez is a 24/7 job. She is her brand, she lives and breathes it while Ben can leave his work at the door if he chooses to.”
Speaking to Kevin Hart earlier this year, Affleck explained that the reason he always looks so frustrated in public photos and videos of the pair are being hounded by the paparazzi who takes them.
“We get out with her and all the kids through Times Square, and the s—- was like f—— bananas. I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ There was a lady, she was smoking weed, in a full purple skintight suit—she’s a heavy lady—and she starts running backwards filming, going ‘J-LO!!’” Affleck explained.
“I don’t like a lot of attention. This is why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why is this dude always mad?’ Because someone had their camera sticking in my face, and I’m like, ‘OK, here we go,'” he said.
Despite numerous reports about the couple getting divorced, the pair haven’t made a comment about it publicly.
