WARNING: This article will contain partial spoilers for The Flash, at least if Ben Affleck is to be believed.

Ben Affleck is one of my favorite figures in Hollywood.

He’s just a fascinating case study in peaks and valleys, as it’s difficult to think of a single A-lister that’s been through more rises and falls than he has.

These days, Affleck is in one of his high moments as his latest directorial effort Air is reportedly the best film of his career (it’s certainly the best-reviewed, as it boasts a 99% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes). Not only that, but he’s also still loving his time in front of the camera, too.

This year, not only is Affleck starring in Air and Robert Rodriguez’s thriller Hypnotic, but he’s also making his final appearance as Batman in The Flash. And according to Affleck, while it may be his last performance as the Dark Knight, it’s also his best.

During a recent appearance on the Smartless podcast, Affleck told hosts Jason Bateman (his Air co-star), Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes about *finally* understanding the Caped Crusader and the moment it all clicked for him.

“You know what? That movie’s good. That movie’s really good,” Affleck said of The Flash. “They made a good one, and it’s my best s*** that I’ve done as Batman. I finally figured out how to play the guy. I was like, I know I quit… but I got it now!”

“[Wonder Woman] saves me with the Lasso of Truth. And what happens is Batman divulges some of his real feelings about his life and his work… and I was like, ‘Wait a minute — I’ve got it!'”

Air, which also stars Matt Damon, Viola Davis, Chris Tucker, Marlon Wayans, and Chris Messina alongside Affleck and Bateman, will hit theaters in the United States tomorrow, April 5.

The Flash, which features the likes of Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Michael Shannon, and Sasha Calle alongside Affleck’s Batman, releases on June 16.
