Surviving a zombie apocalypse is something that only takes place in movies but it’s still worth knowing how society would fare in the far-fetched scenario. A new study has determined the best and worst cities in America for surviving a zombie apocalypse and it’s actually surprising to see how the top 5 came out.
The study from Lawn Love ranked Americans cities based on Vulnerability, Hideouts, Supplies, Protection, and Mobility. Those ranks were then compiled into a comprehensive score.
Coming in at #1, the safest city in America in the event of a zombie apocalypse, is Houston, Texas. Houston ranked #2 overall in Supplies, #1 in Protection, and #4 in Mobility. Surprisingly, coming in at #2 was New York City which ranked #1 in Supplies, #3 in Mobility, and #7 in Protection.
10 Safest American Cities During A Zombie Apocalypse
- Houston, TX
- New York, NY
- San Antonio, TX
- Miami, FL
- Los Angeles, CA
- Austin, TX
- San Diego, CA
- Las Vegas, NV
- Chicago, IL
- Orlando, FL
Texas and Florida represented along with Southern California. There’s certainly some combination of ‘guns + access to oceans/Gulf of Mexico to escape in’ being factored in there.
Now for the flip side, the places you don’t want to find yourself.
Worst Cities In The USA During A Zombie Apocalypse
- Miramar, FL
- Jackson, MS
- North Las Vegas, NV
- Paterson, NJ
- Pembroke Pines, FL
- Surprise, AZ
- Detroit, MI
- Port St. Lucie, FL
- Garden Grove, CA
- West Valley City, UT
The cities receiving poor scores, which can all be found on the Lawn Love study, all seemed to be ‘stuck’ somewhere, for lack of a better phrase. I mean that in the sense that people in a zombie apocalypse wouldn’t be able to easily escape elsewhere and do so loaded up with supplies.
