Pop star Beyonce dressed up as Pamela Anderson for Halloween and has released a montage of her costumes in a pseudo-music video on YouTube.
Set to her recent Cowboy Carter track “Bodyguard” and titled “Beywatch,” Beyonce’s YouTube video sees her dress up in a slew of Pamela Anderson’s iconic looks.
The iconic red Baywatch swimsuit isn’t the only Pamela Anderson look Beyonce paid homage to, as she also dressed up as Pamela’s titular character in the 1996 film Barb Wire, and the outfit she wore to the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.
To be clear, this isn’t a music video as far as Beyonce is concerned, as the megastar has specifically opted against doing so for the releases of her two most recent albums, Renaissance and Cowboy Carter.
“I thought it was important that during a time where all we see is visuals, that the world can focus on the voice. The music is so rich in history and instrumentation. It takes months to digest, research, and understand. The music needed space to breathe on its own,” Beyonce told Variety of her decision to not release music videos for either album.
“Sometimes a visual can be a distraction from the quality of the voice and the music. The years of hard work and detail put into an album that takes over four years! The music is enough. The fans from all over the world became the visual. We all got the visual on tour. We then got more visuals from my film.”
Anderson has been going through a pop cultural resurgence in recent years, as she has been getting rave reviews for her performance in the upcoming film The Last Showgirl and was recently cast to star alongside Liam Neeson in the upcoming remake of The Naked Gun.
This return to the big screen comes after Anderson was the subject of the 2022 Hulu miniseries Pam & Tommy — which featured Lily James as Pamela and Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee — and the 2023 Netflix documentary Pamela, a love story.
