Bigfoot investigators are on high alert over what they are calling “an unprecedented cluster of activity” in Portage County, Ohio. In a report published on Monday, there were “five separate, high-credibility” accounts of Bigfoot sightings over a 96 hour-period in the same region.

The Bigfoot reports have stretched from Mantua to Windham, with many submitted directly to The Bigfoot Society. The Bigfoot Mapping Project has also been documenting the reports.

A timeline of the Bigfoot encounters in the area near Cleveland and Akron

According to a timeline of events shared by The Bigfoot Society, on March 6, a local researcher in Mantua Center “observed a 9-foot-tall brown male standing 120 yards away near SR 44. The creature displayed high situational awareness and retreated at high speed once it realized it was being watched.”

A second witness in the Mantua area reported an 8-foot figure with long arms and dark brown hair on March 7. Before a “forest hush” (complete silence), he apparently heard deep, vibrating grunts and heavy, rhythmic footfall. The witness found oversized muddy footprints at the location as tangible proof.

On March 9, witnesses in Ohio filed three more Bigfoot reports. A hiker near Garrettsville came upon an eight-foot black-furred Sasquatch at around 10:20 a.m. Startled, the witness left the location right away.

Around 11:47 a.m. at Headwaters Trail near Hankee Road, witnesses said they were face-to-face with a 10-foot figure for 15 seconds. They observed two important biological characteristics: a “stilt-like” stride and a shoulder-pivot – turning the entire torso to gaze rather than just the neck. There was a strong musky smell.

Then, in Windham, Ohio, at around 6:00 pm., a homeowner observed a six-foot brown figure running with an incredibly long stride at a dead end near the wood line. Stunned, the witness – a longtime skeptic -said, “I know what I saw, but I don’t know what I saw.”

“Based on these coordinates, the subjects appear to be using the Headwaters Trail greenbelt as a primary travel corridor,” The Bigfoot Society wrote. “The variation in height (6ft to 10ft) and color (brown to black) suggests we are not tracking a single individual, but potentially a family group or multiple subjects migrating eastward.”

Bigfoot sightings have spread to a new county in Ohio

On Tuesday, The Bigfoot Society wrote on X, “The Portage County Surge has officially crossed the county line. At 4:00 AM this morning, we received our 6th high-credibility report in just four days. The activity has now moved into Newton Township, just outside of Newton Falls.”

During this encounter, when a homeowner let their German Shepherd out on a chain, the dog instantly launched itself into a high-aggression lunge toward the woodline. That is when a huge black shadow, believed to be eight to ten feet tall, crashed through the undergrowth, according to the witness. The witness was clear that it was “way bigger than a bear.” The German Shepherd was reportedly trembling with fear once it was safely back inside the home.

Despite all of the Bigfoot sightings in the area, The Canton Repository reports that at their request, the village of Mantua’s police department contacted the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. After reviewing their files for March 6 and 7, they found nothing mentioning Sasquatch or Bigfoot.
