The post-presidential election episodes of Saturday Night Live are some of the most noteworthy episodes that the long-running sketch comedy series produces and this weekend is set to be no different.
For their first post-election show of 2024, Saturday Night Live tapped outspoken comedian Bill Burr to be the host. Mk.gee, who released his debut studio album Two Star & the Dream Police earlier this year, will be the musical guest of the episode.
Burr previously hosted the iconic comedy series for the first time in his career in 2020. The host of the first post-election show in 2016 and 2020 was comedian Dave Chappelle both times.
On Wednesday, November 6, the day after the 2024 Presidential elections, Saturday Night Live shared the first teaser for the upcoming Burr-hosted episode, which will surely draw tons of viewers if only to see his monologue.
The clip features Burr making himself coffee at SNL’s craft services station complaining to himself about having to get a new credit card “every two years” when he’s approached by 27-year-old cast member Marcello Hernandez.
The whole gag of the sketch is that every time the pair discuss the winner of the election, a sound from elsewhere in the studio drowns them out — a gag hinting at the fact that they shot the bit before Tuesday’s results.

Those hoping Burr will take to the stage and agree with their political ideology and theirs alone while ripping on everyone else’s, however, ought to temper expectations as Burr has built a reputation of going after anyone he doesn’t agree with, which is virtually everyone (depending on the issues).
Burr’s episode of Saturday Night Live will be broadcast on NBC on Saturday, November 9 at 11:30 p.m. EST and will be streaming on Peacock thereafter.
