U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers had themselves a day last week when they seized millions of dollars worth of meth from a vehicle trying to cross into the United States on the Brownsville, Texas Veterans International Bridge.
The massive seizure took place on Friday, Oct. 18 when CBP officers were inspecting a 2006 Ford.
The driver of the Ford, which was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection, was busted trying to transport that large load of methamphetamine by a canine unit and a non-intrusive inspection system that revealed 355.36 pounds of alleged methamphetamine in bulk concealed within the vehicle.
CBP officers then proceeded to seized the meth with estimated street value as well as the vehicle.
“Our CBP officers use different enforcement tools as they conduct their inspections to keep our borders secure and their efforts yielded this significant narcotics seizure,” said Port Director Tater Ortiz, Brownsville Port of Entry.

The massive drug seizure was quickly followed by significant large enforcement at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry in Texas which yielded more than $267,000 worth of heroin.
That seizure occurred on October 19 at the Camino Real International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2015 Ford van for secondary inspection.
Using their CBP canine and a non-intrusive inspection officers discovered five packages containing a total of nearly 16 pounds of alleged heroin within the vehicle.
CBP seized the heroin and the vehicle, while the driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents, who initiated a criminal investigation.
“Our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain strict vigilance and this significant heroin seizure reflects the effectiveness of utilizing inspections experience, technology to interdict hard narcotics loads like these,” said Port Director Pete Beattie, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
