The thing about millennials is when Bush comes on the radio (or streaming) we don’t skip the song, we turn it up. So when NPR released the Bush ‘Tiny Desk Concert‘ today it was like a beacon was activated worldwide for millennials to assemble and revel in the glory days of 90s Alt Rock and Gavin Rossdale’s electric stage presence.

Bush’s ‘Tiny Desk Concert‘ comes out swinging HARD with ‘Machinehead.’ After that, Gavin and the Bush bandmates dive into ‘Glycerine,’ ‘Out of This World,’ and ‘I Beat Loneliness.’

Personally, I’m a bit sad they did not include ‘Swallowed’ which is a track that consistently makes it onto my Spotify Wrapped ‘most played’ year after year. I will simply never get enough of that song. But the piano intro to ‘Glycerine’ is beautiful in this version they play below.

Bush Plays The Hits In ‘Tiny Desk Concert’

I have made my fondness for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts well known around here throughout the years. Juvenile in 2023 was a favorite of mine. 311 brought out a ton of nostalgia in 2024. The Doobie Brothers back in November also comes to mind.

But there’s something about seeing Gavin Rossdale sitting in that studio strumming along to ‘Glycerine’ that reminds me of him on stage in the rain during MTV Spring Break back in the 90s. That moment will forever be so emblematic of that era of music. And it’s incredible to see him and his voice hold up after all these years.
