It is safe to assume that the majority of BYU fans live in the Beehive State, but there are exceptions to every rule! In fact, there is one fan who lives in the Pacific Northwest that might be more spirited than the rest of his Cougars counterparts.

He or she made his or her college football allegiance abundantly clear during a three-hour joyride on Wednesday night. The flight path involved was remarkably detailed and requires a lot of planning.

First and foremost, it is important to note that BYU football will travel to the Sunflower State this weekend for a matchup of the undefeated. Kansas will host the Cougars in Lawrence on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, as BYU prepares to travel east to Lawrence, its alumni base is traveling around the Canadian border drawing pictures. Kind of.

At 7:03 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, a Piper Cherokee aircraft took off from Bellingham International Airport in the northwesternmost corner of Washington state. Its flight was to be one-of-a-kind!

Over the course of the next three hours and six minutes, the pilot proceeded to fly in a very specific pattern. He or she first went west and drew the BYU logo. From there, the plane spelled out in all caps: “BEAT KANSAS” before then returning home. It landed at 10:09 p.m. PDT.

Every single detail was perfect. There were no mistakes. Not even one.

Imagine how much thought went into the route to get it exactly right in terms of spacing…?!

Here is the aircraft that completed the remarkable anti-Kansas flight:

It is entirely unclear as to who the pilot might be, or what his or her motivation might have been— other than a deep-rooted BYU fandom. However, it was not the only pattern this week!

On Thursday morning, the very same plane went up and drew an elephant over the course of a one hour and 10 minute flight to Friday Harbor.

And upon further review, these unique flight paths are not a new thing! The same plane spent three hours and five minutes spelling out ‘BEAT ARKANSAS’ on Sept. 12.

Perhaps this is a weekly thing? Unfortunately, the flight log doesn’t go back far enough to check, but it sure seems that way. Whomever her or she might be, the Washingtonian pilot deserves serious props.

College football is a totally normal sport! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
