Couple Enjoys A Hot Tub During Carnival Cruise. Then Another Couple Asks Them Shocking Question. Uh, Now What?

Cruise vacations often bring strangers together for casual conversations. But one couple says a friendly chat in a Carnival Cruise hot tub suddenly turned awkward after another guest made an unusual request.

In her clip, which got over 316,500 views, TikTok creator Chelsea (@cheeky1919) shared the story while getting ready for dinner.

“Day one of our cruise was exciting, interesting,” she begins. “Finish getting ready with me on night one of our cruise while I tell you about how me and my husband got hit on in the hot tub by a female.”

“I thought it was hilarious,” she says. “Because I picked up on it about 20 minutes into the conversation.”

Chelsea says they had been relaxing in the hot tub for two hours when she struck up a conversation with another guest.

“We started talking about where we’re from and what we like to do,” she says. “And then it dawned on me that this girl travels a lot.”

She says the traveling piqued her curiosity about what the woman’s profession might be, so she decided to ask.

“She wouldn’t answer me,” Chelsea says. “And that’s whenever I was like ‘Oh,’” implying the woman was a sex worker.

She Makes An Unusual Proposition

Feeling somewhat tipsy from the drink package they had purchased, she says she continued chatting with the stranger.

“Then this woman proceeds to say to Brandon about what she does,” Chelsea recalls. “And Brandon was like, ‘No, no.’”

That’s when the woman made an offer.

“I mean, you all look like a very outgoing couple…” the woman reportedly said.

Chelsea says her husband initially misunderstood the comment as being innocent, but she immediately realized what the woman was implying.

“No, we’re not,” she says she responded. “We don’t do that.”

Chelsea says she found the situation funny.

“I’m still trying to drink my drink without her knowing that I’m laughing at her, but I’m also laughing at Brandon being oblivious,” she says.

Then the woman added, “It’s no different than me sitting here looking at your wife for free.”

Chelsea says her husband finally realized what was happening.

“And he looked at me, and he was like, ;I would never let my wife do that,’” she says. “I would not be for that. And let this girl have it.”

The couple promptly left the hot tub afterward.

Chelsea says the situation didn’t unsettle her.

“We were not offended. I thought it was hilarious,” she concludes. “Brandon’s scared of you, and your swimsuit is cute, but we’re not outgoing.”

Commenters Are Confused

“I’m with Brandon,” stated one viewer. “I’m still lost how her traveling a lot means she has a certain job, which I didn’t figure out?”

“She’s probably collabing and doing OF,” a user responded to the previous comment. “Which means she travels.”

“Ok so I guess I’m slow- what does she do for a living?” asked another.

Viewers also shared similar stories of their own. “Went on a girls trip that my HUSBAND booked for us and we get on the ship and immediately something was off..all these men mostly in their 50s coming over to the pool to flirt with us while their wives are nearby,” one shared. “Needless to say we were uncomfortable but then the wife came over to flirt with us too and then it dawned on us..I’m very direct so I ask if they are swingers and they were like ummm yeah this is a swingers cruise?!?”

Are There Swingers On Carnival Cruise?

Cruises are popular among some people in the swinging community. In fact, several cruise lines specifically cater to that lifestyle.

Swingers also meet on regular cruises. One commonly cited signal is the upside-down pineapple, which some guests place on their cabin doors as a symbol of the lifestyle.

Passengers have discussed these encounters online. On Reddit’s r/Cruise forum, one user described staying near a group of swingers during a sailing.

“We were on a cruise the beginning of November and our room was along a hall spattered with swingers,” the user wrote. “They were on a group cruise and had marked their doors with signs like ‘our doors and minds are open, feel free to come in’ and ‘nudes, not prudes welcome.’”

However, according to a 2024 report by CruiseHive, the symbol is no longer allowed on Carnival ships.

Responding to a guest on the Carnival Hub app, Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald reportedly confirmed the policy.

“Those are definitely no longer allowed on the ships and they will be removed from any cabin door,” he wrote. “Thank you for reminding me to mention that.”
