Celebrities and business executives can now take out “cancel culture” insurance to help make sure their words or actions don’t come back to haunt them. Because who wants to be bothered with nuisances like having to take accountability for one’s behavior these days?

According to the Financial Times, “The policy is being created by Samphire Risk, a Lloyd’s of London backed independent underwriting agency that offers products focused on crime, hostage-taking and kidnap risk, with Borkowski PR, a London-based crisis communications group.”

The cancel culture insurance plan is called Preempt. With Preempt, anyone can be insured against the woke mob and online outrage by mitigating any possible reputational damage you may have brought upon yourself.

It comes with 60 days of crisis management communications services, including a 24/7 hotline, designed to reduce any damage you might be taking on social media and/or in traditional media due to “cancel culture.” The policy is also proactive as a team of researchers and analysts will be on the lookout for any existing issues you may have that could be problematic down the road.

“Sharing or liking a tweet can bring the whole world down on you,” said Mark Borkowski, a veteran PR boss who drew up the terms of the policy with the services’ risk partner RepuTitan.

“There are a lot of anxious people. The cancel button is the new guillotine [and] one mistake is your epitaph. It’s too easy to take a position on things … without being thoughtful.”

Borkowski added, “In an age where a single tweet can erase a lifetime of credibility — think of… Chrissy Teigen’s cancellation over resurfaced messages — [this] is the insurance against digital volatility.”

Wait… Chrissy Teigen was canceled? Doesn’t she have her own culinary brand called Cravings? And, hold on… she still has how many followers on Instagram? Almost 42 million?! If that’s being canceled…

Hell, Mel Gibson is the director and producer of this past weekend’s number one movie at the box office and he has said some of the most vile, debasing, homophobic, anti-Semitic, sexist, and racist comments of anyone who has ever worked in Hollywood. What cancel culture?
