While Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga features two of the biggest movie stars in the world in Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, the actress that people seem to be talking about most after seeing that film is Charlee Fraser.

Fraser, a 28-year-old Aussie model, has appeared in just TWO movies so far, both of which have come in the last six-ish months.

In late 2023, Fraser made her film debut in the hit rom-com Anyone But You, as she played Glen Powell’s character’s former fling, Margaret.

Then, in Furiosa, Fraser features as Mary Jabassa, Furiosa’s mother, in the first 20-30 minutes of the movie, showcasing an ability to do both action and drama.

Hideo Kojima, the beloved Japanese video game designer behind the Metal Gear franchise who has a personal friendship with Furiosa director George Miller (who has a role in Kojima’s upcoming sequel to Death Stranding), specifically shouted out Fraser and Praetorian Jack actor Tom Burke in his glowing review of the film.

“Anya and Chris are great, but what is even more blinding this time are these two. These two new characters are too cool! The actors who played them are sure to be a breakout hit,” Kojima wrote on Twitter.

“Furiosa’s mother, Mary, is played by Charlee Fraser, who was also in Anyone But You. Tom Burke plays Jack, Furiosa’s mentor. I could only see him as Snake. When I met Tom at a party, I asked him about it and he told me that he was told that he looked like Snake [the lead of the Metal Gear franchise) by the crew on the first day of shooting.”

Further tweets from regular movie fans about Fraser’s performance in the film also went viral in the days following Furiosa‘s release.

One tweet — sent by myself, actually — went viral for suggesting that Fraser sure does look a lot like Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and could therefore be a contender for the role in James Gunn’s DCU.

Some people loved the idea, others fired personal attacks my way for merely expressing the thought: this is, after all, the experience of the internet. Always has been, always will be.

So, if Gunn does wind up casting Fraser in the role, you can either thank me or tell me to go screw myself. I’ll say you’re welcome either way.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the fifth film in the Mad Max franchise, is now playing in movie theaters and will be on MAX in a few months. You can check out the official trailer below, and follow Fraser on Instagram here.
