Chet Hanks Did Enough Cocaine To Make Other Addicts Worried For Him Before Getting Clean

Chet Hanks hasn’t been shy about discussing the substance abuse issue he was thankfully able to address before it was too late, and he shared an eye-opening story about just how bad his cocaine addiction was before he managed to get clean.

As someone who’s been keeping tabs on Chet Hanks since he was trying to make a name for himself as a rapper named “Chet Haze” when he was a student at Northwestern University, it’s safe to say the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson has taken a pretty wild ride through life over the past decade or so.

After all, we’re talking about the 33-year-old actor and musician who ushered in the “White Boy Summer” of 2021 shortly after he went viral for adopting a Jamaican accent to hit on Adele, and there’s arguably nothing that sums up his fairly unpredictable nature than the fact that Eric André once called him out for crossing the line on his show (which is no small feat).

However, it turns out that’s not the only time his behavior has drawn scrutiny from a fairly unexpected source.

In 2015, Hanks made headlines for causing more than $1,800 in damage to a hotel room in England, an incident that preceded a stint in rehab to treat his addiction to cocaine (in both the crack and powdered forms).

Hanks got the chance to address that period in his life during a conversation on the Raw Talk podcast where he reflected on just how out of control his coke habit got while noting it was bad to the point where other veterans in that particular space started to express their concern.

Here’s what he had to say:

“The drug I had the most problem with was just coke, dude. I’m a cokehead. Straight up. Not anymore, but that’s my drug of choice. Cocaine, bro. Like Tony Montana.

You know when you go out to the clubs and there are people that are known cokeheads? You might do a bump with them in the bathroom…

I would go to coke with the cokeheads and they would be telling me like, ‘Yo, chill bro. Just wait a second. Give it like 15 minutes.’ I couldn’t get enough of that s—.”

When seasoned cocaine users are telling you to scale it back, you definitely have a problem, so it’s good to hear Chet was able to turn things around.
