Chipotle customer Landrey opened up her to-go bag, expecting the usual silver wrapping around her burrito. She was in for a shock.
In a video with over 750,000 views, the TikToker, Landrey (@landrey12hammer), sets a gold-wrapped Chipotle burrito on the outside of the brown paper bag. “Life Is Worth Living” by Justin Bieber plays in the background.

Wait, Why Is Chipotle’s Foil Gold Now?
Landrey isn’t the only customer to question the sudden change in wrapping foil. Don’t worry. There’s no shortage of normal aluminum foil.
On the r/Chipotle subreddit, another customer held up a gold-wrapped burrito and snapped a picture. “Does anyone know why my burrito came in golden foil?” they asked.
Commenters joked that the customer may have “won something.” One wrote, “You have found the golden ticket you will be rewarded.”
“Head back to the store and let them know you won. You just got a free entree per week for a year!” another fibbed.
According to a Chipotle press release, the gold foil is meant to celebrate United States Olympic athletes at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan, Italy. The gold medal-inspired wrapping starts on Feb. 6 and lasts until they run out.
Chipotle also features several Olympic athlete-favorite orders in the app, including picks by hockey players Matthew Tkachuk, Brady Tkachuk, Hilary Knight, Taylor Heise, and snowboarder Red Gerard.
Do Chipotle Customers Like The Olympics-Themed Packaging?
In the comments, viewers joked about the sudden change in Chipotle wrapping. Some said they also initially thought they won a prize.
“You get a tour of the chipotle factory,” one quipped, referencing the Golden Ticket from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
“Wrapped in gold and still probably made wrong lol,” a second commented.
“I kind of had the same thought, but then I just threw it away because I didn’t see anything about it. I’m gonna be pissed if I just lost out on free chipotle forever,” another said.
Long-time Chipotle workers shared that it isn’t the first time the chain has offered gold foil during the Olympics.
“As a former chipotle worker, it’s just a gimmick for the Olympics .. yes, you won a golden wrap straight to the toilet,” one said.
Another asked, “Ive been with chipotle for almost 5 years, we’ve celebrated with gold foils atleast 3 times since ive been working there. Why is this new to everyone else?”
“It’s for the Olympics when it’s over we’re switching back to our normal tinfoil,” a third assured customers.
