For the second time in three months, a story of an unsuspecting driver finding a live rattlesnake inside their car has made the national news.

This time around, an officer in the Wheat Ridge neighborhood of Denver, Colorado was checking trailheads when he spotted a car with visible drug paraphernalia and began searching the vehicle with the driver. With his body camera activated, the officer was searching the vehicle where he found drugs, a gun, and a live rattlesnake inside of a large plastic bin.

The Wheat Ridge Police Department shared the officer’s body camera footage of the vehicle search including the moment he was shocked to find the live snake:

The audio from the officer’s body camera is incredible. He can be heard saying “Yo, you got a rattlesnake in here? What the f— dude. Are you kidding me? There’s a f—— live rattlesnake in this bin.”

According to Colorado’s KSN News, the officer had spotted the visible drug paraphernalia at nearly the same time the vehicle’s owner showed up in an Uber. The owner told the officer they’d let a friend borrow the car and that friend told them to pick it up at the park. With paraphernalia in sight, the owner consented to the vehicle search and both of them were reportedly stunned that there was live venomous snake just chilling in the car.

Assuming the story is true, and there’s no reason to believe it isn’t, imagine being the person who lets a friend borrow your car and you get back in it to fin da gun, drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a live rattlesnake. At that point it’s probably time to get some new friends…

The local news report states that the car’s owner isn’t facing charges but police are still trying to contact the ‘friend’ for questioning.

In Arizona back in March a driver was stunned to discover a live rattlesnake in her car. It was later determined the snake had possibly been in there for an extended period of time… Check your cars, people!
