Talk about going beyond the call of duty. A Cortez, Colorado, police officer completed a Domino’s pizza delivery after arresting the driver on an active warrant.
Officer Joseph Yen of the Cortez Police Department pulled over a Domino’s delivery vehicle last week at 8:38 p.m. one night. There was a suspected active warrant out for the driver. Plus, bonus, the vehicle the Domino’s driver was operating had a busted license plate light.
Officer Yen arrested the driver on a warrant issued by the court just four days earlier for failure to appear on a theft charge. The warrant, according to the Durango Herald, involved property valued at $99 allegedly taken from Walmart.
Not done doing their good deeds for the evening, Cortez Police Officer Keirnan Korthank then finished the Domino’s driver’s delivery. Thanks to Officers Yen and Korthank, the Cortez Police Department served both justice and some tasty pizza that night.
All just part of the job, apparently
Interestingly, the police officers in Cortez, Colorado, weren’t the only members of law enforcement to pull double duty as pizza delivery drivers last week.
On Wednesday, the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) in Tennessee announced the arrest of a Cicis Pizza delivery driver from Nashville. The officer there conducted a traffic stop on a car being operated with a suspended registration.
During the stop, officers found that the driver had an outstanding warrant from Davidson County for failure to be booked. The Mt. Juliet Police Department later wrote on social media that the officer also finished the pizza delivery.
“The driver was also in the middle of delivering a food order and had food in the vehicle headed to a nearby home. After safely taking him into custody, our officer made sure the order still made it to the waiting family,” MJPD wrote. “Warrant served and lunch delivered. Just another way we’re committed to taking care of our community.”
