The dust is still settling after Diddy found himself arrested in connection to a federal indictment overflowing with shocking allegations, and his lawyer’s attempts to harness the “Costco Defense” to justify the bevy of bottles of baby oil seized during related raids have been firmly shut down by the retailer after it pointed out a glaring oversight.
Diddy has been no stranger to controversy since making a name for himself after founding Bad Boy Records in the 1990s, and there was no shortage of rumors about a man whose dark side seemed to be a fairly open secret in the entertainment industry.
It would appear many of those murmurings were based in reality going off of the allegations that were outlined in the indictment that was released by the Department of Justice after Diddy was arrested in New York City last week, as the 54-year-old has been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering due to an investigation that largely revolved around the “Freak Offs” that serve as the foundation of the case against him.
That 14-page filing was filled with a ton of eye-opening revelations involving the evidence that was collected by investigators, which included “more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant” that was found during raids of his homes in Miami in Los Angeles.
Earlier this week, Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo spoke with TMZ during an interview where he implied that number was an exaggeration while offering a possible explanation for his client’s stash, saying, “He has a big house. He buys in bulk. I think they have Costcos in every place where he has a home.”
It goes without saying that having easy access to a Costco doesn’t really explain the need to purchase 1,000 bottles of baby oil, but a spokesperson for the warehouse chain told TMZ that excuse doesn’t live up to much scrutiny when you consider it doesn’t even carry the product in any of its stores in the United States.
