A “suspicious yellow man” seen on a roadside in a creepy video late at night is freaking out people, including the police, in Northern Ireland. The man was not only decked out from head-to-toe in yellow, he was also wearing a white mask and a black wig.
The man, wearing a long yellow coat, pants and boots, was caught on video in the Kilrea area of Derry County in Northern Ireland. One witness, Gerard McFerran, actually took video of the “yellow man” and questioned him about why he was dressed that way.
The video has led police to reportedly adding “proactive patrols” in the area. The “yellow man” was also rumored to be armed, but McFerran disagrees.
“I was driving down the Vow Road when I saw the man wearing in all yellow walking down the road and it seemed very strange,” McFerran told Belfast Live.
“I asked him why he was dressed like that, but he mostly ignored me and just kept walking. All he said was that ‘it wasn’t him,’ that he couldn’t get the mask off, and that he had been staying with a friend after getting a train up here.
“It was all very strange and made no sense at all, but I have seen people on social media saying that the man was armed which is not something I ever said. I think because he was fidgeting in his pocket people thought this, but it wasn’t the case.”
Police admitted that there have been reports of a suspicious man in the area and were planning on having officers conduct proactive foot patrols in a number of locations.
“As a service, we take all reports very seriously and I hope that the visibility of our officers today, alongside our commitment to continue to patrol shared public spaces, provides reassurance and boosts confidence that we are committed to doing everything we can to make areas safe,” an inspector with Police Service Northern Ireland said.
