‘I Just Want To Clean My Car In Peace’: Dallas Sports Reporter Says The Type Of Car She Drives Always Attracts Men. It’s So Bad She Wears A Fake Wedding Ring

The reality of being a woman is that no matter how mundane the activity you’re doing or how you look while doing it, there’s always a chance it gets interrupted by unwanted male attention. That’s even if you’re doing something as simple as washing your car.

That’s exactly what happened to Brittany Bowen (@brittanyybowen), a TikToker and Dallas sports reporter who covers the NFL and NBA.

In a recent video, she shares how she can’t even clean her Dodge Charger without someone turning it into an opportunity to hit on her.

‘Wee Bit Aggressive’

Her storytime video, which has racked up more than 53,000 views, starts with a freebie. “I got the car wash for free,” Bowen says, thanking the man who had paid for it.

She says she got approached once she started vacuuming. “So I drive an all-blacked-out Dodge Charger. Everyone loves to talk to me about my car. It’s like an icebreaker for men,” she explains.

The man nearby struck up a conversation, asking if she liked her car, she recalls. She says she told him she loved it, and that’s when he asked for her name. She recounts, “I said, ‘Oh, my name is Brittany.’ And he puts his hand out. So I go to shake his hand. And he goes, ‘Hi, my name is your future.’”

At first, the line went over her head. Then, he doubled down. “’No, but for real, can I be your boyfriend?’” Bowen recalls him telling her.

She responded by flashing a ring on her left hand, pretending she was married. “Now y’all, I’m not married. This is fake. I don’t even have a boyfriend,” she admits in the video.

“Oh, you can leave his a–,” he allegedly responded.

From there, the comments only escalated. “He proceeds to say, ‘No, but for real, because you’re fine as s—, and I would literally eat you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next 37 days straight.’”

Bowen says she laughed nervously, unsure how to respond. “I don’t know what to say to this man. I am not awkward, either,” she says. “So I’m just laughing.”

The man wasn’t finished. “’No, but for real, I would literally impregnate you 32 times over. I have no issues,’” she quotes him as saying.

“A wee bit aggressive, but thank you, kind sir,” Bowen says, wrapping up her story. “I just want to clean my car in peace and go about my day.”

In her video, she added in the on-screen text, “Men are diabolical.”

How To Ward Off Unwanted Attention From Men

Unwanted flirting can be uncomfortable and even unsafe, especially when it escalates. According to mental health platform Calm, there are ways to set boundaries in moments like these.

One approach is to be direct. It’s recommended to use phrases like “I’m not comfortable with this” or “Please stop flirting with me.”

Calm also recommends staying composed but firm, using body language such as crossing your arms or turning away if words feel difficult.

If the attention continues, it’s OK to excuse yourself entirely. “I need to go now” or “I’m done having this conversation” are both ways to end the exchange. Keeping track of repeated incidents can also help if the situation escalates later.

And most importantly, Calm notes that support is available—whether from friends, colleagues, or professionals trained to handle harassment.

Commenters Share Their Thoughts

Viewers agreed the man’s approach crossed the line. “Heavy on the wee bit aggressive,” one commenter wrote.

Another added, “Opening was decent. The ending… needs a little work.”

“He just wanted that car,” a third person said.
