Another day, another potential addition to the cast of The Batman — that’s what I always say!

Seemingly determined to prove to everyone that loading a superhero flick with villains is not an automatic recipe for disaster, fans think that The Batman has added yet another iconic villain to its already sprawling cast.

On Monday, Guardians of the Galaxy and Spectre actor Dave Bautista posted a photo of himself in front of a Warner Bros. logo, which is the studio that owns the rights to Batman. Given his striking physical resemblance to Bane, fans immediately began to speculate that Bautista’s presence at Warner Bros. indicates that he’s been cast as the infamous, Bat back-breaking mercenary.

Naturally, most of the replies to Bautista’s tweet were all fan theories that he’s been cast as Bane in 2021’s The Batman.

The Batman is already stocked with iconic villains, as three of them — Catwoman, Riddler, and Penguin — have already been confirmed to appear, while others — such as Two-Face, Clayface, Mad Hatter, and Firefly — have all been rumored to appear.

Set to be released in theaters on June 25, 2021, The Batman is set to feature Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton (not Nygma, Nashton)/Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Jeffrey Wright as Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon.

Additionally, Peter Sarsgaard has also been cast in an undisclosed role, leading many to suspect that he landed the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face.

While no official plot details have been released, it’s long been rumored that The Batman will be similar to the beloved Arkham games in the sense that the Dark Knight will come across various foes over the course of the story.
