Ask anyone who knows anything about crime thrillers and they’ll tell you that 2018’s underrated gem Den of Thieves is one of the best that the genre has had to offer in the last decade or so. Lionsgate, the studio behind the film, was certainly smart enough to realize that as the conclusion of Den of Thieves teased a sequel, which is exactly what we’ve got coming down the pipeline with Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which hits theaters on January 10.
In a classic elevation of the story that freshens up the stakes of the sequel, not only does the action swing over from California to Europe, but Gerard Butler’s Big Nick — the roguish and gruff Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Detective that steals the film in the original — sees himself teaming up with the bad guys this time, notably O’Shea Jackson Jr’s Donnie.

Gerard Butler (Plane, Has Fallen series) and O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Out of Compton, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) return in the sequel to 2018’s action-heist hit Den of Thieves. In DEN OF THIEVES: PANTERA, Big Nick (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson), who is embroiled in the treacherous and unpredictable world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange.
Alongside the returning Butler and Jackson Jr., Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, hitting theaters on Friday, January 10, 2025, is set to star Evin Ahmad, Salvatore Esposito, Meadow Williams, Swen Temmel, Orli Shuka, Michael Bisping, and more. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera was written and directed by Christian Gudegast, who did the same on the original.
