A member of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ legal team has abruptly resigned from the disgraced rapper and producer’s legal team. Diddy is currently being held on a litany of federal charges, including trafficking and racketeering.

Anthony Ricco, one of Sean Combs’ lawyers, filed the motion to no longer represent the Bad Boy Records mogul in the Southern District of New York earlier this week. Diddy’s other lawyers, Marc Agnifilo and and Teny Geragos, will remain on as counsel.

Combs, 55 years old, was arrested by Homeland Security agents at a New York City hotel in September 2024 on a multitude of federal charges, which carry a potential sentence of 15 years to life if he’s found convicted.

“Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs, consistent with the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice,” Ricco’s resignation letter reads, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to the federal charges, Diddy is also the subject of numerous lawsuits that allege various kinds of abuse.

“For decades, Sean Combs, the defendant, abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct,” the federal indictment against Diddy allges.

“To do so, Combs relied on the employees, resources, and influence of the multifaceted business empire that he led and controlled, creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in… among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.”

Following his arrest, Diddy was taken into police custody and was arraigned in front of a judge, where he plead not guilty and was denied bail.

Combs has since been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn ahead of his trial, which is scheduled to begin in May. According to reports, Ricco’s departure from Diddy’s legal team is not expected to delay the trial.
