Alabama fans are the butt of the joke in Baton Rogue this month after a local Down Syndrome Awareness Group decided to take aim at the Crimson Tide. It doesn’t get much more savage!

October was first designated as Down Syndrome Awareness Month in the 1980s. It has been recognized every October since.

The month serves as a time to celebrate people with Down Syndrome, and make others aware of their accomplishments and abilities. People with Down Syndrome are just like everybody else!

That is the general principle of the new marketing campaign in Louisiana.

DSAG-Baton Rouge, a local Down Syndrome Awareness Group, was founded in 1983 by a group of parents who wanted not only to improve the lives of their children, who were living with Down Syndrome, but to also create a life of inclusion for them. Its ethos is simple.

At DSAG, we provide community-wide parent support through shared knowledge and experiences. Our organization promotes social change and public awareness to improve the quality of life for all individuals with Down syndrome.

Virality is the quickest way to reach the masses and spread awareness in a world that revolves around the internet, which is the guiding principle of DSAG-Baton Rouge’s most recent campaign. Billboards are popping up all across the city with a very targeted message.

It reminds us all that there is no reason to be sorry for those who live with Down Syndrome. To do so, it absolutely destroys Alabama fans.

Zing!

DSAG-Baton Rouge nailed it with this billboard.

Not only is it perfectly aligned with the demographics of Baton Rouge, its message goes beyond just LSU. Everybody knows about Alabama’s dominance, even those who are not fans of college football.

And then there is the virality factor. DSAG-Baton Rouge’s billboard already has us talking. People who don’t read this article will see the billboard on the side of the road and share it to social media.

The message will reach the masses, which is the goal. Alabama fans just happened to catch a stray in the process!
