An influencer says she was escorted back to her room in Las Vegas after event staff deemed her outfit inappropriate. Viewers questioned how she could have been dress coded in “Sin City” and debated whether the outfit was really the issue.
In a video with over 12.9 million views, TikToker Kayla Malecc (@kaylamalecc) stands in the lobby of the unnamed event space.
“Guess who just got dress coded in Las Vegas? Las Vegas dress coded me,” she exclaims. “My badonkadonk was too exposed and too bodacious.”
She notes that hotel staff escorted her back to her room to ensure that she changed outfits.
In a follow-up video, she shares the outfit that the event staff dress coded.
It’s a strappy black two-piece with micro shorts and a strapless top. The fabric has strategically placed tears to show skin. Malecc paired the outfit with knee-high black boots.
Can You Get Dress Coded In Vegas?
While there isn’t a city-wide dress code, according to Las Vegas Direct, some events, clubs, and hotels may have their own policy they enforce. Many times this includes no shorts, flip-flops, or excessively revealing clothing.
Despite Malecc’s experience, many visitors on the r/LasVegas subreddit say they can “get away with” wearing almost anything in the city’s casinos and restaurants.
“As long as it’s fashionable, no one cares. Even the restaurants that say business casual attire aren’t going to kick you out unless you look like a real mess,” one suggested.
Another wrote, “If the place wants you to make a reservation, then figure on business casual, but most places don’t permit swimwear.”
“This is one thing that surprised me about Vegas my first trip. You’ll be standing next to someone pretty much in an evening gown and on your other side someone in sweats and crocs (actually happened this weekend). You really can get away with almost anything,” a third shared.
Why Did The Influencer Get Dress Coded?
In the comments of her viral TikTok, viewers discussed why she may have been escorted back to her room to change.
“If a Vegas hotel is telling you your outfit is inappropriate….it is,” a viewer remarked.
A second said, “Getting dress coded in literal sin city is wild.”
“I seen worst in Las Vegas and they really dress coded you ? That’s wild the fit was cute,” a third questioned.
Locals pushed back on her statement that “Las Vegas” dress coded her, suggesting that the event likely had specific requirements.
One wrote, “Vegas didn’t dress code you , the event you’re at that has a dress code, They dress coded you.”
“As a Vegas local, it must have been baaaaad girl,” another said.
However, other travelers said they’ve also been dress coded in Vegas.
A commenter said, “I have gotten dress code in Vegas I was shocked I was like out of all places dress coding.”
“Vegas is literally trying to become ‘family friendly’ and I hate it! I was there last year and there’s more kids than adults now,” a viewer pointed out. According to News 3 Las Vegas, the city now sees around 5 million visitors under the age of 18.
