A truck crashed into a flatbed trailer in northern Arizona, resulting in thousands of eggs splattering all over Interstate 40. Hopefully, none of them were en route to the Easter Bunny.
“Did we *crack* the case on this *egg-cident*?” the Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol joked in a post on Facebook, adding, “Highway Patrol State Troopers responded to reports of a ‘scrambled’ collision on I-40 near Winona Road.”
The accident reportedly occurred near Flagstaff when a driver lawfully parked a flatbed trailer carrying steel in the emergency lane. Another truck carrying a load of eggs struck the trailer after failing “to properly navigate the curve in the road.”
When the egg truck finally came to rest, still upright, thousands of eggs spilled onto the roadway and blocked westbound traffic lanes. Emergency responders transported the egg truck driver to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries, while the flatbed driver remained uninjured.

Arizona Department of Transportation crews assisted in clearing the road omelettes so that normal traffic could resume.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol reminded motorists, “When driving a larger vehicle or a truck, watch your speed! Larger vehicles take longer to slow and need lower speeds when navigating curves to stay upright. Stay alert, watch your speed, and always truck safely.”
Between the thousands of eggs that were spilled in Arizona and the semi-truck that overturned on the 10 Freeway in California on Monday, spilling hundreds of gallons of syrup onto the road, all America’s West Coast now needs is for a semi-truck hauling pancake or waffle mix to get into a fender bender, and breakfast is complete.
