Saturday Night Live star Chloe Fineman has revealed that Elon Musk made her and potentially other SNL cast members cry when he hosted the show. Musk hosted the 18th episode of SNL’s 46th season on May 8, 2021. Miley Cyrus was the episode’s musical guest.

In a since-deleted video that was posted to TikTok, Chloe Fineman — who recently had a role in Francis Ford Coppola’s film Megalopolis — revealed that Elon Musk made her cry when he hosted the show.

Fineman was seemingly responding to Musk’s complaint about Dana Carvey’s recent impression of him on the long-running sketch comedy show.

“OK, I just saw some news article about Elon Musk being like butt-hurt about SNL and his impression, but I’m, like, you’re clearly watching the show. Like, what are you talking about?” Fineman said of Musk, who now finds himself sitting in on calls with world leaders alongside Donald Trump after buying his way into the President-elect’s inner circle. “And I’m like, you know what? I’m gonna come out and say at long last that I’m the cast member that he made cry. And he’s the host that made someone cry. Maybe there’s others.”

“I was like, I’m not gonna say anything. But I’m like, no, if you’re gonna go on your platform and be rude, like, guess what? You made I, Chloe Fineman, burst into tears because I stayed up all night writing the sketch. I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you had any questions and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny.’ I waited for you to be like, ‘Ha ha, jk.’ No. Then you started pawing through my script, like flipping each page, being, like, ‘I didn’t laugh once, not one time.’”

The most memorable sketch from the Musk-hosted Saturday Night Live episode featured the controversial South African billionaire dressed as Wario, the evil cousin of Mario.

Fineman, 36 years old, joined Saturday Night Live as a “featured player” for its 45th season in 2019 and was promoted to full-time cast member in 2021.

Since breaking through on Saturday Night Live, Fineman has had roles in films such as Megalopolis, Home Team, Father of the Bride, White Noise, Babylon, and Despicable Me 4, and TV series such as High Fidelity, Search Party, Big Mouth, and Twisted Metal.
