Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack!

Can you hear that? It’s the sound of the best fictional youth hockey team in cinematic history getting ready to take the ice once again.

Disney+ teased The Mighty Ducks reboot last year and has finally released an official premiere date and trailer for its 10-episode series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

The show is set in present-day Minnesota and centers around 12-year-old Evan Morrow. In this iteration of the series, the Mighty Ducks have grown from a team of misfits to a powerhouse youth hockey program. You know, the one with the nicest gear and best talent— like the Hawks in the original movie.

When Morrow is cut from the Ducks, he and his mom enlists the help of legendary coach Gordon Bombay to form a new team of unlikely underdogs.

“I want you to think about all the other kids who have been told that they’re too small or too slow,” she tells her son. “They just want to get out there and play. Let’s start our own team!”

The trailer features a few familiar faces. Emilio Estevez returns in his classic role as Bombay and Gilmore Girls alumnus Lauren Graham stars as Morrow’s mother. For Letterkenny fans, a well-known hockey legend is in the mix as well.

With the help of Bombay, Morrow and his mom rediscover the joys of playing for love of the game, and if I had to guess, the new-found team ends up knocking off the powerhouse Ducks in the end. Or players from the Ducks see how much fun the ragtag team is having and slowly begin to move sides. The trailer doesn’t indicate that Morrow’s father is in the picture, so I’d imagine that, in true Disney fashion, Bombay and Morrow’s mom will fall in love as they build the team from the ground-up.

All three Mighty Ducks movies are awesome, despite the fact that trilogies rarely hold their weight, and the spin-off seems like it is going to be just as good. Steve Brill, who created, wrote and executive produced all of the films, co-created and executive produces the 10-episode series. The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is set to premiere on March 26, exclusively on Disney+.
