‘How Embarrassing for Them’: New Jersey Woman Calls Out Boyfriend’s ‘Crazy Ex’ For Canceling His Gym Membership. Then The ‘Crazy Ex’ Responds

A New Jersey couple noticed that someone unexpectedly canceled their gym membership.

The girlfriend found out her boyfriend’s ex called the gym and called her out in a now-private TikTok. However, the ex’s response went viral, swaying viewers’ opinions in her favor.

In a TikTok with over 5.9 million views, Gabriella Dellolio (@gabrielladellolio) stitches a video posted by her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend, Ashley Scala.

In her initial video, Scala lip-syncs to “Pretty & Petty” by Cardi B in the gym bathroom, singing, “I’m a bad b—-, and you mad.” On-screen text reads, “My boyfriend’s crazy ex called our gym to cancel his membership. But jokes on her, we were planning to switch gyms, and she just saved us from paying the cancelation fee.”

However, Dellolio claims that Scala isn’t sharing the full story.

Did The ‘Crazy Ex’ Cancel The Couple’s Gym Membership?

Dellolio says she was hesitant to reply to her ex’s girlfriend’s video but felt the need to clear the air.

“No, you actually can’t call the gym and cancel somebody’s gym membership,” she says. “It really doesn’t work like that.”

She explains that she checked her bank statement and realized that her ex’s gym membership had been charged to her card for the past two years. So she says she decided to call the gym to ask them to remove her card from his account.

“They said, ‘We can’t do that. We have to cancel his membership,'” Dellolio says. “That’s why his membership got canceled. Because he was using my card for the last two years.”

The TikToker sarcastically says she’s glad her canceling the membership helped the couple avoid the $25 fee.

“You obviously need it, and I’m so happy for you guys that I saved you money,” she jokes.

At the end of the clip, she puts Scala on blast for claiming that Dellolio has mental health problems, which she says isn’t true.

Commenters are now praising Dellolio for setting the record straight, calling the ordeal “embarrassing” for the new couple.

“Horrendously embarrassing for them omg,” one remarked.

Another asked, “Girl, he was using your card for his gym membership, and she thinks she won?!?”

“She says ‘our gym’ like it wasn’t yours and his first. Hahah,” a third pointed out.

Why Can’t You Cancel Someone Else’s Gym Membership?

While some commenters noted that it would have been a clever get-back to cancel an ex’s gym membership, it won’t work without special circumstances like Dellolio’s.

Gym membership contracts are legally binding and typically require an ID to sign up. Some gyms, such as Planet Fitness, are known for their strict cancelation policies, which require members to show up in person at the location where they initially signed up.

Even some ex-partners in Dellolio’s situation haven’t been able to break strict gym contracts. In the r/personalfinance subreddit, one man says he realized he was still paying for his ex-girlfriend’s gym membership and called to cancel.

“We split over a year ago. I tried to get my card off of her account when we split, but they wouldn’t let me without her permission,” he shared. “I had hoped the membership would expire after 18 months or whatever it was when we signed up, but no such luck (go figure).”

Did The Current Girlfriend Respond To The TikToker?

Scala quickly privatized her TikTok account after Dellolio’s video went viral. However, Dellolio posted a follow-up video with more details about what transpired between the two from her perspective.

She says she and her ex broke things off in January after an on-and-off-again relationship. Dellolio alleges that she had a restraining order against her ex, which she voluntarily dropped. She shares text messages she sent to an unknown number, asking them to stop harassing her. However, she notes that she doesn’t know exactly who was texting her.

At the end of the video, Dellolio says she hopes to move on from the drama.

“She made a video, and I replied,” Dellolio says. “I have no hatred towards anybody.”
