Three men agreed to sit in the exit row of a 3-hour flight. Then a passenger in the row next to them realized just how many beers they consumed and questioned what would happen in an emergency situation.

TikToker Ayo_sammiee (@ayo_nope0) takes a video of the tray tables of three men in the exit row. The man in the aisle seat seemingly finished four Bud Lights and two Heinekens. The other two men have one Heineken on each of their tray tables.

On-screen text reads, “Are you willing and able to assist in the event of an emergency?” repeating back what the flight attendants ask exit row passengers before the flight.

He questions whether the trio would be able to fulfill their end of the deal if the plane needed to evacuate. The caption reads, “No way they are going to be able to assist.”

Can The Exit-Row Passengers Can Help?

Viewers debate in the comments whether the alcoholic beverages would help or harm their ability to assist with an evacuation. Some say the “liquid courage” could make them an effective team.

“My confidence would be through the roof. I’d work better buzzed,” one said.

Another joked, “100% Trust these guys. They will have super human strength and no fear!”

Liquid courage. He’s going to be the calmest one during the emergency,” a third suggested.

However, some suspect that the alcohol could impair them to the point that they couldn’t help assemble the exit row.

“Willing? Yes. Able? Questionable,” a viewer wrote.

THEY ARE THE EMERGENCY,” a second exclaimed.

Are You Allowed To Drink Alcohol In An Exit Row?

There’s no Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rule that prevents flight attendants from serving alcohol to exit row passengers. Flight attendants may cut off passengers from more drinks if they think they’re too intoxicated to help in an emergency.

However, some passengers say flight attendants have denied them any alcohol while in the exit row.

One Delta passenger says they could order a glass of wine due to their exit row seat on the r/Delta subreddit. They wrote, “I hadn’t had anything to drink so I was stone cold sober. And it was a half empty flight so the irony is I could have just moved back a seat.”

Others say they had the completely opposite experience, though.

“Wow we got 2 free drinks each for agreeing to be the emergency row people! We were thinking great let’s get the supposed heroes drunk lol!” a commenter on the forum wrote.

“I always drink in the exit row, and I don’t even remember the last time they made me pay when in the exit row,” a second remarked.
