Fabian Marta, a financier of the film Sound of Freedomhas been arrested and charged with child kidnapping, according to reports.

Marta, who said in comments on Facebook that he was an “angel investor” in the film and that his role involved reacquiring the rights back from Disney to stop them from “burying” the film, was arrested on July 21.

According to records from the official Missouri Courts website, Marta has been officially charged with kidnapping in the First Degree and is accused of allegedly “removing a non-family member below the age of 14 without their parent’s consent.”

In Missouri, child kidnapping is a class A felony, which means Marta faces 10 years to life in prison if found guilty. From Chesterfield, Missouri, while Marta’s bail was set at $15,000, he was released following an initial court appearance on July 24.

Newsweek — who confirmed with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police that Marta was officially charged on July 21 and was taken into police custody two days later on July 23 — say that they reached out to Marta on Facebook for comment on Friday, August 4. The report from Newsweek also includes Marta’s mugshot.

Sound of Freedom dramatizes the career of Operation Underground Railroad founder Tim Ballard and was released in theaters earlier this summer. The film has one of the box office surprises of the summer as it has made over $155 million at the global box office.

Those figures, however, are quite obscured, as Angel Studios, the studio behind the film, instituted a “Pay It Forward” program which allows people to purchase large swathes of tickets as a “donation” to others, which are then being counted in the box office receipts regardless of whether or not they’ve been claimed.

Sound of Freedom stars Jim Caviezel as Tim Ballard, the founder of the non-profit organization Operation Underground Railroad.

Caviezel, a public endorser of QAnon-based conspiracy theories, has also appeared in films such as My Own Private Idaho, The Rock, G.I. Jane, The Thin Red Line, The Passion of the Christ, and Deja Vu, and starred in the CBS series Person of Interest, which ran from 2011 to 2016.

In addition to Caviezel, Sound of Freedom also features Mira Sorvino, Bill Camp, Eduardo Verástegui, Javier Godino, José Zúñiga, Kurt Fuller, Gary Basaraba, and more.
