For servers at restaurants similar to Hooters, the job isn’t just about being accommodating, respectful, and hospitable. A big part of the experience, and the expectations, comes down to their appearance.
But now, one Hooters server says her location is switching things up, and not in a way anyone asked for.
‘Good Thing I Have A Pouch’
Florida-based TikTok creator Nachalie (@nachalieeeee) shared a video trying on the new Hooters uniform, but she didn’t sound exactly thrilled.
Her store, she said, didn’t close during Hooters’ recent shakeup, but it did get bought out, and now there are new rules across the board.
“We got bought out, basically,” she explains. “So we have, like, all these new changes.”
The biggest change is the shorts. Gone are the cheeky low-rise ones Hooters is known for. In the video, she models the updated version: orange spandex, medium rise, and a lot more coverage in the back.
“A– completely covered,” she says. “It’s literally like spandex. Like volleyball shorts, I guess. No a– being shown.”
She jokes about the “camel toe” being completely exposed but notes that bartenders now wear pouches, which help cover that. “Thank god,” she adds. “Good thing I have a pouch.”
Other updates came with a bit more flexibility. She says they can now wear jewelry, including four rings per hand and necklaces. Though, she notes they are not allowed to wear hoop nose rings. Nachalie says she plans to wear her “mama” necklace because, in her words, “it’s my whole personality.”
In the caption, she mentioned another update: “Also have to cover up bigger tattoos again lol.”
Why Are Some Hooters Locations Changing?
Uniform and jewelry rules aren’t the only things that are changing. Hooters recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and as part of that process, it’s selling off more than 100 company-owned restaurants to two major franchisee groups, one based in Tampa and the other in Chicago.
The brand says it’ll keep operating during the transition and plans to come out of bankruptcy in the next few months.
That said, Hooters’ footprint might shrink. The company admitted it’s reevaluating which of its stores will stay open.
Franchisee Neil Kiefer, who’s now part of the buying group and was involved in Hooters’ early days, says the goal is to bring things back to basics. He told Bloomberg the plan is to make the chain more family-friendly.

Commenters Weigh In
Despite her reaction, people in the comments said she looked good in the new uniform.
One person wrote, “Looks less objectifying, that’s good.”
Another added, “This is merely going back to OG image standards from 10–15 years ago.”
A third said they hated the change too: “Yeah I’m suffering with u girl.”
A former server chimed in: “We had the same ones and I would hike them up when we had those.”
