You never know what you’re going to encounter when you make your way into a public bathroom. However, you would probably expect a toilet to hold up while you’re using it, and one man in Florida has filed a lawsuit against Outback Steakhouse over a lack of structural integrity he says was responsible for serious bodily injury.

It’s been close to 40 years since the first Outback Steakhouse restaurant opened for business in Tampa, Florida, and that Australian-inspired outpost marked the start of what became an international dining empire that currently boasts more than 1,000 locations around the globe.

If you’re doing things right, a trip to Outback is probably going to merit a trip to the bathroom sooner rather than later, as I’d argue no meal there is truly complete without a Bloomin’ Onion and at least a couple of pints of Foster’s to help wash the meal down.

One man who dined at an Outback in the state where the chain was founded earlier this year ended up needing a trip to the porcelain throne while he was there, and he has decided to sue after things took a turn for the worse.

Outback Steakhouse is facing a $50,000 lawsuit filed by a Florida man who says a toilet shattered when he sat down to use it

According to Ocala News, a Florida resident named Michael Green dined at the Outback Steakhouse located at 3215 SW College Road in Ocala on March 26th and headed to the restroom at some point during his visit.

Based on the claims in a lawsuit that was filed in Marion County court last week, Green sat down on the toilet in a handicap stall and suddenly found himself on the bathroom floor after it “shattered and collapsed” when he sat down, a mishap he says caused “severe bodily injury.”

The lawsuit alleges the toilet wasn’t properly secured to the floor, and Green asserts he suffered “significant and permanent loss of an important bodily function and/or permanent and significant scarring” in a filing where he’s seeking $50,000 while also citing the lost wages, medical bills, and general pain and suffering he says he was subjected to as a result.

I can’t believe I’m typing this, but this isn’t the first time a large chain has been sued for exactly $50,000 over a toilet mishap that transpired in Florida. A couple of years ago, a man went after Dunkin’ Donuts for the same amount after the toilet he was sitting on erupted and covered him in raw sewage while he was using it.
