Bob’s Burgers actor Eugene Mirman, the voice of Gene Belcher on the show, is lucky to be alive after a fiery crash this week. His electric car hit the Bedford Toll Plaza in New Hampshire and erupted into flames.
Trapped inside, Eugene Mirman was rescued by New Hampshire governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail, a state trooper, who with the help of two others pulled the Bob’s Burgers star out of the car window and to safety before he was engulfed by flames.

A clip from Burlington, Vermont’s WCAX News shows just how devastating the fire was. Portions of the vehicle, including a tire, can be seen in the forefront while the vehicle itself is merely a ball of rubble and flames at this point.
According to an initial report from the Associated Press, the New Hampshire governor was on the scene when it occurred. She is said to have left her vehicle to retrieve a fire extinguisher but the report adds she was not in any danger at the time.
The Bob’s Burgers actor’s agent, Jay Glassner, released a statement confirming the accident and adding “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”
The Bedford Toll Plaza where the accident occurs sits just south of Manchester, New Hampshire on the Everett Turnpike.
