In my never ending quest to ensure that everyone I know is exposed to GWAR at some point in their lives I’m bringing you all this video today after GWAR stopped by the A.V. Club studios for the first A.V. Undercover session in 7 long years.

The heavy metal/shock rock/hardcore punk band famous for their outrageous and often grotesque costumes could have played any song under the sun opted to come out and put their own spin on ‘I’m Just Ken’ from the Barbie movie last year and they slightly tweaked the lyrics to ‘I’m Just GWAR’ for their rendition.

It has been a while since I was in the habit of posting new music here every Friday at BroBible and I feel like I’ve been doing all of you loyal readers a disservice by not bringing you the best new performances of the week so I will make an attempt to cover more Music on Fridays going forward, just like I used to. But without further ado, here’s the arguably most famous band to ever come out of Richmond, Virginia covering ‘I’m Just Ken’.

Apologies to Ryan Gosling because he sang the original but The Berserker Blóthar on vocals absolutely crushes this song in a way that Gosling never could. And while it was the one and only Slash on guitar for ‘I’m Just Ken’ at the Academy Awards I’m almost certain it wasn’t him playing on on the original track, and GWAR’s BälSäc the Jaws ‘o Death definitely brings the heat compared to the original version.

I think the first time I was exposed to GWAR was their cameo in Empire Records. Prior to that I’d heard the name before but didn’t know who they were. Talk about a life-changing cameo for me as I’ve been a fan ever since I saw that movie some summer as a kid stuck at home watching TV all day when my parents were at work. Glory days.
