After being recognized for his iconic roles as Han Solo and Indiana Jones and Rick Deckard and Dr. Richard Kimble and President James Marshall, legendary Hollywood star Harrison Ford is perhaps best known for the lack of f’s he gives.

As journalists who have tried to ask him about Star Wars over the years have learned, Harrison Ford is not afraid of speaking his mind, which has only become increasingly true as he’s gotten older.

Despite now being 82 years old, Ford remains as fiery as ever, as evidenced by his recent Comic-Con appearance and the spitfire venom that comes from his mouth whenever he feels like making someone feel stupid, which is quite often.

In his latest stab at franchise filmmaking, Ford is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, taking over the role from the late William Hurt. Ford’s first MCU appearance will be in next year’s Captain America: Brave New World, which releases in February.

As for why Ford took on the role, it’s simple: the money.

“What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before,” Ford told Variety when asked about the process of using motion capture technology to transform into the Red Hulk.

“I don’t mean to disparage it. I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it. I had a great time, and I’m delighted at the response that we got with the trailer.”

Alongside Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross/Red Hulk, Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, and Liv Tyler. Mark Ruffalo has also said he’ll be appearing in the film as Bruce Banner/Hulk (the regular green one). The film hits theaters on February 14, 2025.
