Just in time for Halloween, Netflix is releasing the new horror series The Haunting of Hill House, which many critics are already lauding as a truly haunting experience. The Haunting of Hill House is based on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel of the same name and was adapted into the 1963 movie titled The Haunting. Now Netflix is bringing the screams with the terrifying new TV show that critics are absolutely loving.

The Haunting of Hill House, which is said to be a low-building, ominous horror, already received a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The chilling show has already been crowned “Netflix’s first great horror series.”

The Haunting of Hill House is a kind of riff on madness in its many forms, a sojourn of loss and regret,” said Slant Magazine TV critic Ed Gonzalez.

“But it’s a series that will stick in people’s minds – not because of the familiar things it does, but for all the things it dares to do differently,” said Bryan Bishop from The Verge.

“This is one of the best shows of the year, and one of the most truly chilling of all time,” GQ says.

Forbes said, “The Haunting of Hill House is decent and very much strives for a more classical horror vibe relying less on gore and more on supernatural scares.”

The ten-episode scarefest utilizes flashbacks to tell the story of five siblings in the Crane family, who are dealing with repressed trauma all from growing up in the spooky Hill House and the haunting that occurred at the creepy mansion.

The show has little kids talking about super creepy topics.

And macabre ghosts photobombing family photos.

The Haunting of Hill House stars Timothy Hutton, Carla Gugino, and Victoria Pedretti, The show is directed by Mike Flanagan, who was involved with movies such as Gerald’s Game, Oculus, Hush, and Absentia.
