As for the adult portion of the cast, Harry Potter will star Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Nick Frost as Hagrid, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, and Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall.

HBO’s Harry Potter has been slightly controversial for a few reasons, though. The first is the public perception of creator JK Rowling is far different than it was a quarter century ago when the film series began.

The second is that, based on everything fans have seen thus far, the series does not appear to be any discernibly different from the films, making fans wonder why they’re even bothering.

The third is the staggering investment HBO is making into the series, with each episode reportedly costing $100 million to produce.

According to reports, HBO is looking to turn each book into one season of television, and is hoping the series runs for a decade.
