Bartender Mocks Customers Who Hit On Them In This Really Common Way: ‘OK..Well.. Never Doing That Again’

Bartenders can often be a big part of a fun night out. From funny asides, good drinks, and the occasional flirtation, it can be easy to misread the vibe. You think you’re making a connection; they’re trying to make bigger tips.

So it’s almost inevitable that mixed drinks lead to mixed-up social cues.

In Kraków, Poland, anyway, those seem to be the rules. Or that’s the story one bartender is telling to the 3.5 million people who’ve watched the recent TikTok from Karaoke Kraków (@letssingkrakow). The on-screen caption reads, “How the customers think I react when they leave their number.”

Hint: It’s not flattering.

Pulse-Pounding Excitement

It’s clear right away: This isn’t TikTok’s version of a “meet-cute.” In fact, it’s a promo for the bar itself. In the video, the bartender picks up a left-behind cocktail napkin with a phone number on it.

Instead of crumpling it up and moving on with his night, he immediately starts “celebrating.” He’s performing such a fist-pumpingly hype version of happiness that it’s clear he’s mocking the very idea that he’d deign to call a number left on a napkin.

Then he goes from fist-pumping rapture to booty popping. He ends up by leaning on the bar, head in one hand, gazing into the far distance. It looks like he’s already imagining a happy future. Though it’s got a mean edge, it’s still funny.

Better Than Tinder

The internet has a few opinions on Karaoke Kraków’s performance. “Once briefly dated a barkeeper, only men worked at the bar. He said they’d collect the written down numbers in the break room and whoever won the most by the end of the month won. No, they never texted them,” said one viewer.

Others have a different take on what the numbers might mean. “One time a guy tried to ask me if he could leave his number where the tip was and I told him if he did I was gonna charge him that amount,” recalled another.

Still others defend the souls who screw up their courage and take a shot at love. “I’m not sure why we’re making fun of people who are brave enough to do this lol but we get mad at people for not trying,” another user pointed out.

“When I worked at a bar I thought it was cute, as long as people were respectful. Better than meeting people on tinder,” another said.

How To Hit On The Bartender

So, what’s the right tack if you feel yourself crushing hard on your local mixologist? Well, it’s probably good advice not to show up all the time just because you can.

Instead, bartender u/defnotom on Reddit says, “Don’t be drunk. Don’t be creepy. Don’t assume a large tip will guarantee you a date. Ask yourself do you really have a rapport or is this person or are they just being nice because of service?”

Then, he says, let the bartender make the first move if they’re interested.

It’s advice that’s loosely echoed by another Redditor (u/semmeschic215). She says she found love in a more organic way with a regular. “He started staying and helping me flip chairs. He didn’t hit on me. He just left it to progress naturally,” she shared.

In the end, leaving your number at the bar isn’t a crime. But it is a gamble. The movie ending you get might be a rom-com or a tragedy—or just a great story your friends never let you forget.
