Real ones know that the premier food court item across the world is Costco’s legendary hot dog combo, which includes a foot-long, all-beef hot dog and a refillable 20-ounce soda for just $1.50. But IKEA, which has a legendary food court in its own right, is coming for the king with an impressive new menu item.
The famed Swedish furniture chain, which is known as much for its food as its in-home furnishings, recently released the “half-meter hot dog,” and it’s absolutely crazy.
Ikea’s new $5 hot dog is 20 inches long.

IKEA’s Half-Meter Hot Dog Is Absolutely Preposterous
The 20-inch glizzy is a sight to see. But it’s only being sold at IKEA locations in the United Arab Emirates and costs approximately $5.17 USD.
The chain made the bold choice not to extend the bun anywhere near the length of the hot dog itself. So anybody who purchases it will be left with a significant amount of unbunned dog.
But because the UAE is typically a halal-compliant country, we can only believe that it is, like in Costco, an all-beef dog, which is the superior way to go.
The half-meter hot dog also comes with sides of ketchup and mustard, if you choose.
IKEA has not stated whether it plans on extending the offering beyond the UAE, but potential customers are certainly interested. They quickly weighed in on the eye-catching menu on social media.
“What if we Lady and the Tramp kissed using the 20 inch IKEA hotdog?” one person asked.
“Hot dog technology has far exceeded hot dog bun technology,” noted another. This was a common sticking point among critics of the half-meter hot dog.
Ultimately, the hot dog combo at Costco will remain the king of food court items until proven otherwise. Meanwhile, IKEA can stick to its famed Swedish meatballs with ligonberry jam.
