Due to making false claims that she was a man competing in women’s boxing, Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling have been named in a lawsuit filed by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif.

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, and J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, have each made a litany of headlines in recent years for their anti-LGBTQ and transgender rhetoric and now find themselves being sued for it.

Not only have Musk, Rowling, and others been named in the suit, but Republican Presidential candidate and already-convicted felon Donald Trump will be looked into as part of the lawsuit’s investigation, according to Variety.

“The lawsuit was filed against X, which under French law means that it was filed against unknown persons. That ‘ensure[s] that the prosecution has all the latitude to be able to investigate against all people,’ including those who may have written hateful messages under pseudonyms,” said Nabil Boudi, Khelif’s Paris-based lawyer.

“J.K. Rowling and Elon Musk are named in the lawsuit, among others. Trump tweeted, so whether or not he is named in our lawsuit, he will inevitably be looked into as part of the prosecution,” he added.

Khelif won the Olympic gold medal in the women’s 66kg boxing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. The 25-year-old reportedly suffers from a rare condition called Differences of Sexual Development (DSD) that can result in the woman having “XY sex chromosomes, blood testosterone levels in the male range, and the ability to use testosterone circulating within their bodies.”

If Khelif’s genetics do show that she has an XY chromosome, that is not automatically evidence of a transgender transition, but rather, the occurrence of a rare condition known as DSD — Differences of Sexual Development.

In addition to the lawsuit from Khelif, the propaganda machine that Musk’s Twitter has turned into has also caught the attention of British authorities, as London’s Metropolitan Police chief recently suggested they could look into charging Musk for his app’s role in recent riots across England, which were sparked by false reports that an asylum seeker was responsible for a mass stabbing in Southport.
