Over the weekend, Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx shared his first public message since suffering an undisclosed health emergency earlier this year.
Because the world is unfortunately and irrevocably broken, though, Foxx’s appearance in the video message has sparked conspiracy theories on social media.

“First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody that’s prayed, man, and sent me messages. I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through,” Foxx says in the video, which he shared on Instagram on Friday, July 21.
“I know a lot of people were waiting, wanting to hear updates. But, to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man. You know, I want you to see me laughing and having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie or television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”
One post asking “What’s going on with Jamie Foxx?” racked up 14.6 million views on Elon Musk’s Twitter over the weekend.

Not only did people point out that Foxx’s face is shaped differently given the type and angle of the camera lens, but people also made comments about Chadwick Boseman’s appearance only a few months before he tragically passed away due to cancer.

It’s hypocritical to me how some of these people preach body positivity and anti-bullying yet they made jokes at the expense of Michael Jackson (his entire life), Chadwick Boseman (when he was fighting for his life with colon cancer), and now Jamie Foxx (bedridden for months!).

It's actually hilarious watching how people talk about Jamie Foxx. It reaffirms why I just quietly side-eyed when people pretended like there was some big, collective moment of awakening when Chadwick Boseman died.
We didn't learn shit from that and we likely never will learn.

Foxx was most recently seen in the Netflix film They Cloned Tyrone, which just hit the streaming service on Friday, July 21, and also features Star Wars alum John Boyega and current MCU actress Teyonah Parris.
Later this summer, Foxx will also be starring in the comedy Strays, albeit in a voice role. Alongside Foxx, Strays stars Will Ferrell, Will Forte, Isla Fisher, Randall Park, Josh Gad, Harvey Guillén, Rob Riggle, Brett Gelman, Jamie Demetriou, and Sofía Vergara.
In the coming years, Foxx is also attached to star in a variety of projects such as The Burial, Tin Soldier, Back in Action, and Groove Tails.
