Jamie Foxx finally detailed the life-threatening medical experience he went through in the spring of 2023 that almost took the life of the Academy Award-winning actor. Foxx addressed the situation for the first time in his recently released Netflix special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…
In the special, which was released on Netflix on Tuesday, December 10, Jamie Foxx revealed that he “literally died” after suffering from a brain bleed and a stroke. According to Foxx, when he arrived at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, a doctor said of his condition: “He’s having a brain bleed that has led to a stroke. If I don’t go in his head right now, we’re going to lose him.”
During the special, however, Foxx laced some comedy into the story by working in a joke about the recently federally indicted Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs being the devil.
“I went to hell and back. I saw the tunnel,” Foxx says in the the Netflix special. “I thought I saw the devil … or is that Puffy?”
Foxx also made a joke about the infamous and illicit “Diddy parties” at which many of these alleged crimes occurred, saying that he left those “slippery” (a reference to Combs’ alleged use of spiked baby oil) situations early.
“The internet said Puffy was trying to kill me, that’s what the internet was saying… I know what you thinking, ‘Diddy?’ Hell no, I left them parties early… out by 9,” explaining that something at the parties “[didn’t] look right.”
Combs was arrested in September on a handful of federal charges and has been held at the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn ever since. Combs has pled not guilty to his charges and faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison if found guilty. The disgraced rapper and producer is set to begin his trial next May.
According to the federal indictment against Diddy, he alleged “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct” for decades.
Authorities allege that Combs’ ‘criminal enterprise’ engaged in decades of, among other crimes, “human trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.”
