Three-time Academy Award-nominated and one-time winner Jennifer Lawrence could be in for another nomination this year for her starring role in the upcoming thriller Die My Love, which has thus far seen her performance earn rave reviews.
After exploding in the 2010s with a bevy of award nominations and commercial hits, Jennifer Lawrence faded from the spotlight at the turn of the decade, both to start her family and to reset her career.
The A-list actress’ strategy for selecting projects has surely changed, as everything she’s starred in since 2021 has been rated R, with the upcoming Lynne Ramsay directed Die My Love alongside Robert Pattinson.
During a recent candid interview with The New Yorker, Lawrence opened up about the public perception of her and how it changed over the years, with her even admitting that watching old interviews of herself makes her cringe.
Jennifer Lawrence says she watches old interviews of herself and thinks she was ‘annoying’, is getting plastic surgery before next birthday suit scene
“Well, it is, or it was, my genuine personality, but it was also a defense mechanism [to be self-deprecating to the press]. And so it was a defense mechanism, to just be, like, ‘I’m not like that! I poop my pants every day!’ … I look at those interviews, and that person is annoying,” the Oscar-winning actress told The New Yorker.
“I get why seeing that person everywhere would be annoying. I felt—I didn’t feel, I was, I think—rejected not for my movies, not for my politics, but for me, for my personality.”
Since taking a break from acting in the late 2010s following a string of blockbuster misfires — two X-Men movies, Passengers, and Red Sparrow — Lawrence returned to acting in 2021 with Don’t Look Up, and has starred in Causeway, No Hard Feelings and Die My Love, which releases on November 7, since.
She’s also attached to star in the Martin Scorsese directed adaptation of the novel What Happens at Night alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, which is slated to be the legendary director’s next project. Perhaps that’s the role that Lawrence said she will be getting plastic surgery for prior to filming, as she revealed in the same interview.
“Everything bounced back, pretty much, after the first [pregnancy] one. Second one, nothing bounced back,” she said, adding that she plans to get the augmentation before shooting her next birthday suit role.
