After a difficult 2024 that saw her take very public L’s in both her personal and professional lives, Jennifer Lopez’s return to music in 2025 doesn’t seem to be going all that well, either. Lopez announced a convoluted way to hear her upcoming single and got swiftly mocked on social media.

According to a post from the popular social media account Pop Crave — an account that was recently briefly featured in Ari Aster’s new movie EddingtonJennifer Lopez will release a new single titled ‘BIRTHDAY’ on July 24, her birthday, and “fans who RSVP to her birthday story invite get early access to the song’s pre-save link.”

The song is set to be the pop star and actress’ first single since the release of her album This Is Me… Now in February 2024, which bombed critically and generated such little excitement around her summer tour that she was forced to cancel it.

The way Jennifer Lopez is distributing her new music is being widely mocked

Just to illustrate just how ruthlessly Lopez was clowned on, the tweet mocking her has racked up over 23,000 likes, while the original post announcing the single release has just over 2,000 likes. Talk about getting ratio’d.

As for why 2024 was such a tough year on Lopez, not only was her album panned and her tour canceled, but she also went through a highly-publicized divorce with actor/director Ben Affleck and was nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst Actress for her performance in the terribly-reviewed Netflix sci-fi film Atlas.

The 55-year-old pop culture stalwart does seem to have one win on the horizon, however, as her next movie Kiss of the Spider-Woman — directed by Dreamgirls and Beauty and the Beast filmmaker Bill Condon and co-starring Diego Luna — received positive reviews following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was picked up by Lionsgate for an October 10 distribution.

Lopez is currently on tour, however it’s a Europe, Africa, and Asia-only tour, with stops in Spain, Hungary, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Romania, UAE, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Uzbekistan. between July and August.
