Actor Jeremy Renner appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, April 11, marking his first public appearance — not counting his recent interview with Diane Sawyer — following his scary snowplow accident back in January.

Back on New Year’s Day, the 52-year-old Renner was hospitalized with extensive injuries after he was run over by his snowplow while clearing a path at his Nevada home. According to reports, the snowplow weighed over 14,000 pounds.

As a result of the accident, Renner was forced to be airlifted to a nearby hospital to undergo surgery. A few weeks later, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star announced that he had broken over 30 bones in the accident.

Now, about four months after the snowplow scare, Renner is beginning to work his way back into the public eye, as he not only sat down for a feature interview with Diane Sawyer, but he also made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! .

“I got lucky in a lot of ways. I’m happy to be here,” Renner told Kimmel during the interview.

Renner also detailed how his Avengers buddy Paul Rudd hilarious kept his spirits up in the days and weeks following the accident, including a fake Cameo video in which he suggested that Renner should just “wait for the snow to melt” next time.

“Hey Jerry, I heard you were a little banged up — got into a fight with a snow blower, apparently? Anyway, I just wanted to send this video,” Rudd says in the video, which was played on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“It’s really from the heart, and I hope you’re feeling better. It sounds like you are — apparently, you’re a pretty tough guy. So maybe I’ll get to meet you one day, and wouldn’t that be something?” In the meantime, take care, and take it easy for a while. And next time, maybe just let the snow melt. Feel better Jerry,” Rudd joked.

Renner can most recently be seen in season two of Mayor of Kingstown, which is streaming on Paramount+. He also has a new home improvement reality show on Disney+, titled Rennervations, premiering on Wednesday, April 12.
