‘I Still Feel Ashamed’: Woman Goes Into Jersey Mike’s For The First Time. The Worker Questions Her About Her Order

A woman decided to try Jersey Mike’s for the first time and noticed the regular size is around seven inches. So she opted to pay a little bit more for the large, but the cashier stopped her before she could even complete her order.

TikToker @loverofgingerale recounts the awkward interaction in a video with over 340,000 views.

“I looked at the menu prior to going in, and I saw the regular is only like seven inches,” she says. “So, I ordered the large.”

Then, she says the Jersey Mike’s worker makes a confused expression.

“She goes, ‘You want a large?’ Then she pulled out the large, and she showed me,” the TikToker continues. “I ordered the large! Girl, you don’t know me.”

She ultimately left with her large sandwich, feeling judged for opting for the larger portion.

“You don’t know if I shared that. I took it home with me. You have no idea,” she says. “Did I share it? You don’t know!”

The caption reads, “I still feel ashamed like girl thanks.”

Who Orders The Giant Jersey Mike’s Subs?

The Jersey Mike’s worker isn’t the only one who questions why some customers order the giant subs, which are 14 to 15 inches long and cost around $20.

On the r/JerseyMikes subreddit, one customer asks workers to weigh in on how often customers actually purchase the super-sized sandwich. They write, “It seems like a crazy amount of food but see people ordering when I’m in line and wonder how many people actually order them compared to the regular size.”

However, some workers say that most of their customers opt for the giant over the regular.

“You’d be really surprised. When I first started working there I was like ’18 bucks for a giant?!? Who the hell would pay 18 bucks for a sandwich’ and honestly my store is 80% giant subs I think,” one shared.

Another said, “Giants have multiple uses specially when cut into 4ths. It can feed a small family, feed one person 2 times, or feed 2 people once.”

Do Viewers Opt For The Giant Size, Too?

Commenters assured the TikToker that they also get the giant size for themselves, even if they don’t plan to share.

“When the large is like $3 more imma get the large. whatever i don’t finish i have for dinner or lunch the next day. girl math i saved money,” one said.

“Have they never heard of leftovers? Sometimes I buy a sub that’s super big just so I can have more later,” a second asked.

“I hate when people judge like that. It’s none of their business. I like to have leftovers but sometimes I eat the whole thing,” another remarked.

Others shared how they would have responded to the judgy worker.

“Naw I’d get it, sit down and finish that whole thing in front of her. Cause a girl can EAT!” a commenter joked.

Another suggested, “I always ask for them to cut it into three sections…. I’m most likely gonna eat it all but that’s none of their business.”
