In an inconspicuous Instagram post shared late on Wednesday night, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville announced that a fifth film in the beloved stunt franchise is in the works. According to Knoxville, Jackass 5 (not yet confirmed as the official title) will be released in theaters on June 26.
Given that the fifth Jackass movie is set to release in just six months, that means the Jackass crew filmed the project in secret and were able to keep it under wraps under now.
In his announcement, in fact, Johnny Knoxville hinted at the news potentially breaking in the coming days and wanted to make sure he did it himself.

“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theaters June 26th.🎉❤️🎉 More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!” the longtime franchise frontman shared on Instagram on Wednesday, January 7.
The most recent film in the franchise, Jackass Forever, was released in 2022 and was one of the best reviewed films in the franchise. Prior to that, Jackass 3D was released in 2010, Jackass Number Two hit theaters in 2006, and the first Jackass movie debuted in 2002.
The franchise did not begin on the big screen, however, but on television, as Jackass originally aired as a TV series of three short seasons on MTV between October 2000 and August 2001.
In addition to Knoxville, the main Jackass crew consists of Steve-O, Dave England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, Chris Pontius, Preston Lacy, and more. Jackass Forever also added some new cast members to the crew, such as Zach Holmes, Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Jasper Dolphin, Eric Manaka and Rachel Wolfson.
